CODE project aims at fostering the inclusion of persons with disabilities by improving their access to financial services.
The CODE project is entering its final stage, with a key milestone taking place this September in Italy: the testing and finalization of the training platform.Partners and end users will come together to validate the tools developed throughout the project, share final feedback, and ensure they are fully accessible and ready for wider deployment. The goal is clear: to deliver practical, sustainable, and inclusive solutions that improve access to financial services for persons with disabilities.A great example of how European cooperation can drive innovation and inclusion for lasting impact.Try our training platform: lnkd.in/dgVUjir9Visit our website: code-erasmus.eu/Chambre de Commerce Italienne de Nice, Sophia Antipolis, Cรดte d'Azur;Fundaciรณ Privada TrinijoveiCoopรฉration Bancaire pour l'Europe0Fondazione Luigi ClericigAssociation IRSAMtIstituto dei Sordi di Torino People First - HUFAtlantis Engineeringng#accessibilitye#inclusion##DigitalInnovationI#FinancialInclusionl#CodeProjectodeProject

Ensuring it truly meets users' needs is what makes the difference. The CODE project has now entered a key phase with the user testing of the Code Wallet application, developed to improve access to financial services for persons with disabilities.Participants' feedback will help refine the app's usability, accessibility, and overall user experience before its official launch.True innovation happens when solutions are designed with users, not just for them. Let's look at an exciting example of good practice in banking accessibility: In May 2024, the SigningBanks.UK initiative was launched. It is an accessible banking platform created jointly by more than 20 British banks and financial institutions to make financial services accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing customers as well.Participants include Nationwide, Lloyds Banking Group, Barclays, HSBC, Monzo, Starling, Santander, NatWest, Tesco Bank and many others. In recent years, the initiative has become a proven best practice, and several European countries โ including Ireland and the Netherlands โ are already showing interest in adopting the model. lnkd.in/eTsQ6-Du ๐ This good practice fits perfectly with the objective of the CODE project: it demonstrates that accessibility is not only a technical issue, but also a genuine shift in mindset within the financial sector. However, although people with disabilities could represent one of the largest customer groups in the EU for the financial sector, they remain the most underestimated client group. From June 2025 onwards all banks, financial institutions and fintech service providers in the European Union will be required to make their digital interfaces accessible โ including websites, mobile applications and ATMs. The European Accessibility Act (EAA) was introduced by the EU to ensure that people with disabilities and older adults have the same access to financial services as everyone else. Accessible digital banking makes financial independence possible for millions of people. ๐ Our CODE project supports exactly this shift in perspective: it encourages people with disabilities to make more informed financial decisions and draws banksโ attention to the fact that accessibility is not an extra feature, but a fundamental customer right. Our comprehensive training material, developed for both target groups, has now been completed. The Digital Divide Is a Barrier We Are Working to BreakThe digital divide remains a real barrier in Catalonia and we at the Erasmus+ CODE project see it every day.Organisations in the disability sector have recently raised the alarm about the lack of resources and training to implement the Accessibility Code, noting that many people still struggle to access digital services, including financial ones. (Source: COCARMI 2025). This is a challenge we take personally, because we know that digital exclusion leads directly to financial exclusion. That is why, together with our partner Fundaciรณ Trinijove, we are on the ground, working to reduce these barriers by strengthening the digital and financial skills of people in vulnerable situations. Our starting point is simple but powerful:- without digital access, there is no access to banking;- without access to banking, there is no equal opportunity.Through CODE, we believe that change starts locally. By equipping people with the right skills and tools, we help them take back control of their financial lives, because no one should be left behind simply because they lack access to a screen or a service. This is our commitment. This is our work.#DigitalInclusion #CodeProject #ErasmusPlus #accessibility
